One Stop Prom Shop

In our IMDD class, we are working on a big project called the One Stop Prom Shop. For this project we are creating an assembly to market it and get people excited to come to this event. Our teacher broke us into teams to get the planning of each section of the assembly completed. I am a member of the morph team. For this team we had to decide what our 12 morphs were going to during the assembly. We decided on all of us doing a synchornized dance with several different songs from Just Dance with Gangam Style as the ending dance.

Yearbook designs

Our latest project in IMDD was to create yearbook designs. Each student had to create two designs that the yearbook staff will choose from for the cover. For me this project was one of the hardest we have done so far. I restarted several times to get these final two designs. For my first design I used a bunch of circles of different sizes and colors. I started creating circles in random places and then found a pawprint to use. My second design is completely different. I found a picture of a tiger that I put a filter on in Photoshop. After I added the filter I created a black rectangle to go across the top. Altough this project wasn't the easiest for me I am happy with the outcome.

Black Friday Shopping

Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. Black Friday recieved its title becasue if the sales of the business is in the black they are making a profit and if they are in the red they don't make a profit. This year I will be going shopping on Black Friday. I plan on going to South Park Mall in Strongsville. The one place I want to shop at the most is Victoria Secret because they are giving out a free bag with a $65 purchase.
The three ideas that changed last year after Black Friday are consumers crave mobility, want "couch commerce", and success centers on the customers experience. This year customers using mobility by shopping online and spending more money on their phones. Customers want "couch commerce" so they don't have to go to the stores on Black Friday and can just purchase the items online. This year many stores are compeling promotions so that people will come to the stores at midnight rather than make the purchases online. The stores need to advertise their promotions with information that is relevant to the customer. Marketers that want to survive Black Friday will strive to make a change.

My Business Letter

In my IMDD class, our recent project was to write a business letter to send to local businesses. After that we had to create a letterhead with our logo for the top of the letter. The purpose of this letter is to inform local businesses about the services our class can provide for them. Then after all this was completed we had to create a prospect list with 10 businesses that we wanted to send our letters to. I hope to hear from these businesses soon!

My Logo

In my IMDD class, we were assigned a project to brand ourselves. This project included creating our own logo, chosing a main and sub text, and selecting three colors. Then after we created our own design, we had to create one for another student in the class. For this project I had to use Photoshop. First, I created an aqua colored rectangle with rounded edges. Then, I made a thin black rectangle on the left side of the aqua rectangle. After that, I put two small circles in the top right corner. Finally, I found I font that I really liked and put my initials in a creative way under the two circles. After, I finsihed my logo I had to chose the texts I wanted to use. The main text I chose was Nueva Std and Tekton Pro as my sub text. Then I chose black, aqua, and gray for the colors of my brand.
I am very pleased with my final design. This project was not easy for me. It took me several designs to come up with my final one. Then finally on my third design, I created something I really liked. I hope you like it as much as I do.

My Thank You Card

In my IMDD class, we made thank you notes to use in professional situations. I came up with this design by finding that floral design on Google Images. I really like the look of a black and white images with an random color. I saved the image and put it into Photoshop and changed the color of the image to black and white. I made a teal rectangle with the shape tool and then a white one smaller than the teal. I put the white on top of the teal and then typed 'Thank You' in a fancy font. I am really happy with how it turned out.

Carrots, The New Junk Food

Carrots have been around for years but have you ever considered a baby carrot as a junk food? The CEO of Bolthouse Farms,Jeff Dunn, believes that the baby carrot is the junk food for vegetables.
Bolthouse Farms had been around for a century. The compony boomed in  the 1990s with a great new product. A man named Mike Yurosek thought of an idea to cut the carrots into small pieces and then selling them in bags. He cut the carrots into 1-inch pieces and peeled them into a round shape. These were known as "bunny balls". Some of the carrots were 2-inches and were called baby carrots. The baby carrorts became extremly popular while bunny ballls never made it. With the invention of baby carrots the amount of carrots consumed by Americans doubled.
Jeff Dunn put together several focus groups and surveys. He found some interesting information. He discovered that Americans buying baby carrots weren't taking the time to wash and cut regular carrots but regular carrots stay longer. Therefore, Americans bought regular carrots and would not eat them and then would not purchase any until they had spoiled or were eaten.
To increase the sales of many carrots, Jeff Dunn decided to create advertisements and new packaging. Dunn flew to Boulder, Colorando to meet with Crispin. Crisipin made Dunn realize that he wanted baby carrots to appeal as a junk food. Crispin came up with a campaign 'Eat 'Em Like Junk Food'. Bolthouse Farms started to wrap the carrots with that saying on them and then put them in vending machines at high schools.
The branding and packaging of the product is very important. The packing has to be appealing to the consumers eye so it will make them want to eat it. Attractive packaging is crucial because many consumers judge a product by how it looks. Branding also is a major part becasue a company must create a brand that a consumer has brought previously and remembered that they were satisfied with it. Therefore, comsumers would most likely buy that product agian.
I find the new niche in the carrot industry very interesting. Bolthouse Farms had a great idea to make carrots the new 'junk food'. This allowed many people to buy the product and it is better for their health. Instead of grapping a bag of chips to snack on, Americans can eat a bag of baby carrots.

May the Best Brand Win

Although social media plays a major role in the Olympics, it maybe a threat to the sponsership. Acoording to the IOC's social media gudilines, the athletes are not permietted to promote any brand, product or service on any social media or wesites. For example, Gabby Doluglas would not be able to tweet about the bowl of Wheaties she had to help her win the gold medal.
The halo effect is when one product brings other people to shop the caterogy but they do not buy tha tfeatured product. An example of this would be someone going to Gaint Eagle to purchase a bowl of Wheaties but bought a box of Cheerios instead.
The box of Wheaties resinates with consumers as a quality product, which bulids brand equity. Brand equity is when a consumer is loyal to a certain product because they trust the brand and the quality of it.
The Nike Make It Count campaign refernces the Oylmpics without being an actual sponser by modivational sayings and reference pictures of the sports involved with their product. I believe that the athletes should be able to endorse products as long as it is portrayed in a positive manner. It would help promote the products so people will buy them.

IMDD

IMDD stands for Interactive Media and Digital Design. It is a 6 district compact program, which means it is offered to the other schools in the district. The class is only offered to Seniors. It involves graphic design and marketing
We have had many projects and assignments so far. In this class we have made business cards for a Senior in the DECA class and ourselves. We have also done a Marketing Scavenger Hunt. Mrs. Knight, our IMDD teacher, gave us a list of marketing terms and we had to find examples of these in our community. Each student also had to create their own emails so we can learn how to community and write professional emails. Recently, we had to make our own blogger accounts and I am currently writing you blog! We also have elected class officers that helps create a professional atmosphere.
IMDD is the best part of my day. I look forward to coming here everyday because I love the teachers and the other students in my class. Even though I haven 't been in the class for very long but I recommend that you take this course because it is a great oppotunity and experience.
